How big is it, really?
The AIDAluna's length overall, against things you already know the size of.
The 747-8 held the longest-airliner record for over a decade, until Boeing's 777-9 took it by about 19 inches (76.72 m) — our sibling site aircraft.fyi measures everything that flies the same way.
One AIDAluna = 0.94 Titanics · 2.4 football pitches · 10 blue whales · 3.3 Boeing 747-8s laid end to end.

What makes it different
AIDAluna is the third Sphinx-series ship and the last built to the original 69,203-ton size before the class was enlarged. She and her two earlier sisters are the smallest ships AIDA operates.
The Sphinx design is efficient rather than showy: four Caterpillar MaK diesels producing 36,000 kW, two shafts with fixed-pitch propellers, twin rudders and a hull that runs at nearly 22 knots — quick for a mid-size cruise ship, which suits the long northern itineraries she works.
She spends her summers on Iceland and Norway runs out of Kiel, the kind of high-latitude, port-heavy schedule that the class was designed around and that the line's two LNG giants are far less suited to.
