The story

What makes it different

Costa Fortuna is the oldest and shortest ship in the fleet, and she is on her way out — sold to Paradise Cruise Line Operator and transferring to Margaritaville at Sea in September 2026, after which she re-registers from Genoa to Nassau.

Her interiors are a tribute to the Italian liners of the twentieth century, including scale models of earlier Costa and Italian Line ships suspended in the atrium. It is an unusually self-aware piece of design for a mass-market ship.

Her departure completes a long contraction. Costa ran more than fifteen ships before 2012; the 2026 fleet is eight, after Costa Venezia, Costa Firenze and Costa Luminosa were transferred to Carnival Cruise Line and Costa Magica was sold outright. What remains is younger, larger and built around the two LNG flagships.
