The story

What makes it different

Carnival Horizon is the second Vista-class ship and close to a straight repeat of her lead — the same 133,500 gross tons, the same 15 decks, the same SkyRide loop around the top deck.

The differences are in the fit-out rather than the naval architecture: an IMAX theatre, a Havana section of Cuban-themed cabins with their own pool and bar, and a Dr. Seuss-branded water park, part of a licensing arrangement Carnival has run across the fleet since 2014.

She was christened at New York in 2018 by Queen Latifah, and has worked Caribbean itineraries out of Miami for most of her career — the reliable middle of a fleet whose extremes are now the Excel ships above her and the ageing Fantasy-class ships below.
