What makes it different
Norwegian Encore is the biggest ship Norwegian Cruise Line has ever operated, at 169,116 gross tons, and the last of a four-ship run that grew steadily larger without ever changing its underlying architecture — each Breakaway-Plus hull added a few thousand tons over the one before.
The feature she is known for sits on the top deck: a two-level electric go-kart circuit, the largest at sea, running over 300 metres of track above the funnel line. NCL introduced racetracks on Norwegian Joy for the Chinese market and then kept them, which is why the class ends with a ship whose most photographed feature is a road.
Below that she is a conventional Meyer Werft product — twenty decks, 3,998 lower berths, around 2,100 crew, and The Haven, NCL's keycard-only suite enclave forward. Delivered in October 2019, she had four months of service before the industry shut down, and now works Caribbean winters and Alaska summers.
