What makes it different
Disney Dream ended a thirteen-year gap in Disney's shipbuilding and jumped the line's scale by more than 45,000 gross tons in a single step. She is also where Disney moved from Fincantieri to Meyer Werft, which has built every ship the line has ordered since.
The AquaDuck is the reason people remember her. It is a 765-foot water coaster in a clear acrylic tube, propelled by water jets, that runs a circuit of the top deck and swings out over the side of the ship four decks above the promenade. No ship had carried one before, and the idea has since been copied widely.
Her styling is Art Deco to Disney Fantasy's Art Nouveau, and both keep the line's deliberate ocean-liner profile: black hull, white superstructure, two red funnels with black tops. Only the aft funnel does any work — the forward one holds youth activity spaces, which is a very Disney solution to a naval architecture problem.
