What makes it different
Celebrity Equinox is the second Solstice-class ship and a straight repeat of the lead — the same 317-metre Meyer Werft hull, the same roughly 122,000 gross tons, the same Lawn Club of real turf on the top deck.
She is best known outside the specification sheet as the ship commanded by Kate McCue, who in 2015 became the first American woman to captain a mega cruise ship and who built an unusually large public following while doing it — a rare case of a specific ship becoming associated with a specific master.
Like the rest of the class she went through Celebrity's Revolution refit programme, a fleet-wide modernisation that reworked staterooms and public spaces across the older ships to bring them closer to the Edge-class standard.
