How big is it, really?
The Celebrity Edge's length overall, against things you already know the size of.
The 747-8 held the longest-airliner record for over a decade, until Boeing's 777-9 took it by about 19 inches (76.72 m) — our sibling site aircraft.fyi measures everything that flies the same way.
One Celebrity Edge = 1.14 Titanics · 2.9 football pitches · 12 blue whales · 4.0 Boeing 747-8s laid end to end.

What makes it different
Celebrity Edge is the most architecturally adventurous mainstream cruise ship of the last decade, and it starts with the thing bolted to her side. The Magic Carpet is a cantilevered platform about the size of a tennis court that rides vertically up and down the starboard hull, serving as a tender platform at sea level, a bar in the middle of the ship and a restaurant at the top.
The second departure is the Infinite Veranda. Instead of a balcony separated from the cabin by a sliding door, the entire outer wall of the room opens — the window drops, a bifold door retracts, and the balcony becomes part of the living space. It divided opinion sharply and Celebrity kept it anyway.
She also dropped the traditional wraparound promenade deck entirely, which is why her profile looks less like a conventional cruise ship than almost anything else afloat. Six ships have been ordered on the design, running to 2028 — so the gamble evidently paid off.
