What makes it different
Carnival Celebration is the middle ship of the Excel class and, with Carnival Jubilee, the joint-largest Carnival has ever operated at 183,521 gross tons. She is a near-identical repeat of Mardi Gras with roughly 1,700 more tons of internal volume and ninety more passengers at double occupancy.
The Excel platform is built around zones rather than a single promenade: six themed areas including Celebration Central, a two-deck venue that doubles as theatre and nightclub, and Grand Central, an atrium with three-deck windows facing the sea rather than inward. On the top deck runs BOLT, the roller coaster that Mardi Gras introduced as the first at sea.
She is also the second LNG ship in the fleet. Carnival Corporation committed early to LNG across its brands — AIDAnova came first in 2018 — and the Excel ships are the Carnival Cruise Line expression of that platform. Celebration crossed from Southampton on a fourteen-day maiden transatlantic in November 2022 and has worked Miami ever since.
