What makes it different
Norwegian Escape started the Breakaway-Plus class, and there is a neat trade-off buried in her specification: she is the smallest of the four by tonnage but carries the most passengers of any ship in the NCL fleet, 4,266 at double occupancy.
The reason is what she does not have. Her sisters gave over large areas of the upper decks to a go-kart circuit, a laser-tag arena and a water park; Escape put cabins there instead. She is the most conventionally efficient ship of the group.
She was christened in Miami by Pitbull in 2015, carries a Guy Harvey marine mural across her hull, and has alternated Caribbean and European seasons since. As the transition ship between the Breakaway and Breakaway-Plus designs she is also the clearest illustration of how little the underlying naval architecture changed across seven years and eight hulls.
