What makes it different
Disney Fantasy is the second of the Dream-class pair and the ship that finished Disney's move into large-ship cruising. Her Art Nouveau interiors are the counterpart to Disney Dream's Art Deco — the two ships are structurally identical and deliberately styled as a matched but distinguishable pair.
Both carry the AquaDuck, a 765-foot clear-tube water coaster that loops out over the side of the ship and back — the first water coaster fitted to a ship, and the feature that made the class recognisable from a distance.
The Dream class was Disney's answer to a specific problem: two ships from 1998 and 1999 could not meet demand, and the line had gone thirteen years without adding a hull. Fantasy and her sister roughly doubled Disney's capacity in two years.
