What makes it different
Caribbean Princess is a Grand-class ship with a deck inserted. Fincantieri added the Riviera deck — a full additional level of cabins — to the standard hull, which took her to 112,894 gross tons and gave her the largest passenger capacity in the Princess fleet until Royal Princess arrived nine years later.
She is more significant for what she introduced than for her size. Movies Under the Stars, the large outdoor screen above the main pool, debuted on her in 2004 and has since been fitted to every ship in the fleet — one of the few genuinely durable ideas in an industry that adds and abandons features constantly.
Built specifically for year-round Caribbean deployment, she has done almost exactly that for her entire career, working Florida-based itineraries with occasional repositioning to Europe.
