The story

What makes it different

Norwegian Aqua is the ship NCL built when the Prima class proved slightly too small for its ambitions: the hull was stretched and the design refined into the Prima Plus class, roughly ten percent larger, with Aqua delivered by Fincantieri in March 2025 as its lead.

Her headline is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid of rollercoaster and waterslide in which magnetically launched rafts climb and dive around the funnel — a genuine first at sea, in an industry where top-deck hardware is the sharpest marketing weapon.

At 156,300 gross tons she plays in a different weight class from the Icon and Oasis giants, which is the point: NCL sells a mid-scale, no-set-dining formula where the ship is large enough for spectacle but small enough for ports the giants cannot enter.
