What makes it different
Eurodam opened the Signature class in 2008 and was christened by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands — Holland America is American-owned and Seattle-based, but the Dutch connection is maintained deliberately, from the registry in Rotterdam to the -dam suffix on every hull.
She introduced Tamarind, the pan-Asian restaurant, and the private Retreat cabanas, both of which spread across the fleet afterwards. At around 86,000 gross tons she is comfortably mid-sized by current standards, which suits the line's long itineraries.
Crucially she fits the original Panama Canal locks as well as the new ones — a constraint the larger Pinnacle ships gave up, and one that still matters for a line that sails to every continent and builds itineraries around canal transits.
