How big is it, really?
The Celebrity Eclipse's length overall, against things you already know the size of.
The 747-8 held the longest-airliner record for over a decade, until Boeing's 777-9 took it by about 19 inches (76.72 m) — our sibling site aircraft.fyi measures everything that flies the same way.
One Celebrity Eclipse = 1.18 Titanics · 3.0 football pitches · 13 blue whales · 4.2 Boeing 747-8s laid end to end.

What makes it different
Celebrity Eclipse has the best origin story of any ship in the Celebrity fleet. In April 2010 the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in Iceland closed European airspace and left tens of thousands of travellers stranded. Eclipse was newly delivered and had not yet been named.
Celebrity cancelled her naming ceremony, sent her to Bilbao instead, and brought roughly 2,000 stranded British travellers home to Southampton free of charge. Her first working voyage was a repatriation run, which is not a sentence that applies to many cruise ships.
Beyond that she is a standard Solstice: 317 metres, about 122,000 gross tons, seventeen decks, the half-acre Lawn Club of real grass on top, and the glass-blowing studio the class carried in partnership with the Corning Museum of Glass. She remains a Southampton regular.
