How big is it, really?
The Norwegian Epic's length overall, against things you already know the size of.
The 747-8 held the longest-airliner record for over a decade, until Boeing's 777-9 took it by about 19 inches (76.72 m) — our sibling site aircraft.fyi measures everything that flies the same way.
One Norwegian Epic = 1.22 Titanics · 3.1 football pitches · 13 blue whales · 4.3 Boeing 747-8s laid end to end.

What makes it different
Norwegian Epic is the most experimental large cruise ship of her era, and the clearest example of a line trying several new ideas at once and discovering which ones passengers actually wanted.
Some worked and became standard: The Haven, NCL's keycard-gated suite complex, appeared here first and is now on every large ship in the fleet; so did studio cabins designed and priced for solo travellers, with their own shared lounge — genuinely novel in 2010 and since copied widely.
Others did not. Her standard cabins used a curved wave-shaped wall and split the bathroom into separate toilet and shower pods flanking the entrance, with frosted glass between. It saved space and was almost universally disliked, and no subsequent NCL ship repeated it. A planned sister was never ordered, leaving Epic as a class of one at 155,873 gross tons — for five years the largest ship NCL had.
