What makes it different
Princess spent a decade watching rivals build ever-bigger hulls and then answered with the Sphere class: two 345-metre, 177,882-ton sisters from Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard that are the largest cruise ships ever constructed in Italy. Star Princess is the second of them, delivered in September 2025, eighteen months after Sun Princess opened the class — and at 345 metres she stands eye to eye with Queen Mary 2 on the length board while carrying nearly four times the modern liner's berths per metre of hull.
The class signature is the Dome, a geodesic glass crown over the bow inspired by Santorini terraces — a pool retreat by day that converts to an aerial-show arena by night — backed by an Arena theater with moving seating and a three-deck Piazza. She is also Princess's second LNG-powered ship, part of parent Carnival Corporation's long dual-fuel programme.
Star Princess is the third ship to wear the name, and the first with a tequila christening: Camila and Matthew McConaughey broke a bottle of their own label across her bow at Port Everglades in November 2025. By April 2026 she had already threaded the Neopanamax locks for her first Panama transit — at 47 metres of beam, she clears the 51.25-metre gauge with under two metres of margin per side.
