What makes it different
Costa Pacifica is themed on music from end to end, and unlike most ships that claim a theme she carries the hardware to back it: a working recording studio where passengers can produce a track, alongside public rooms named for songs and genres.
She was christened at Genoa in June 2009 in a double ceremony alongside Costa Luminosa — the first time Costa named two ships on the same day, and a marker of how fast the fleet was expanding before 2012.
The two ships were very different underneath. Pacifica is a 114,500-ton Concordia-class hull; Luminosa was a 92,700-ton Vista-class ship, and later left the fleet entirely to become Carnival Luminosa. Costa's remaining Vista ship is Costa Deliziosa.
